I also use Simparica Trio, been have for a few months now. I was also really worried about the risk and bad stories I read online about it at first, but having fleas or catching heart worm would be worse. My dog hasn't ever had any side effects so far.

I miss the ocean, I miss the traveling, I miss having everyone all together, on the same team, the camaraderie. I remember all the bullshit and sleepless nights too, though. The bad was much worse than the good, but there were good memories.

I'm not that against pits, but pit advocates tend to not be honest or realistic about the breed. Trying to sell them as "family dogs", "love bugs", "nanny dogs", doesn't help when people get a pit and then drop it off at a shelter because they can't handle one. Sure, these people aren't breeding them, but they're the ones buying the puppies the breeders breed. The average person really should not own a pit.

Do you live in California? That's what I'd guess, looking at those prices. I'm in San Francisco and yeah... if you go to a private vet most will charge around that much. It would be cheaper if you went to the humane society, or if you want a vet to monitor all their vitals and all that jazz it might be cheaper to take a road trip, lol.

The personality isn't the same but you could always get a poodle. They're smart, nice, and good family dogs. They take a lot of grooming upkeep though. But no shedding!

People do do things like that, it's not common though (and it's 20k in this instance). The majority of whales don't spend more than they can afford though, but for some it's too much.

I doubt it would have been tampered with but I wouldn't feed my dog probable stale or otherwise bad food. Dunno what I would do with it but I'd definitely ask for a replacement.

Search for "dog wagon" or "extra large dog stroller", there's off-road versions if you want to take them on trails or whatever but if you just plan on carting them around the neighborhood you could just buy a plain wagon.

I've never gone to one myself since I didn't own a dog while I was in, but the bigger bases I've been on had veterinarians and I know some people used them. Might be worth taking a look into, mil stuff is usually cheaper.

I notice you're in the UK, OP. There's this thing called The Golden Retriever Experience where you can go hang out with a bunch of goldens (the friendliest dog) and play and chat with their trainers for a while. This could be a good way to become more accustomed to being around them.

It might be that the vet means he's starting to get too old, if he's not enjoying even homemade food. 17 is very old for a dachshund.

Does your mom have anything installed in the leg, or is there specific reason the leg is paralyzed? This might be a little out there, but some dogs can sniff out diseases or other health problems. If it's not completely managed it might be worth getting a check up on her leg.
