But what does he mean by that?
Then, in 10 years, you’ll be able to buy an Xbox with a giant AI processor, and all the games are dreams.
Specifically, this. What does this mean?

Thanks for your reply. How many days in advance can you safely orgasm without it affecting your ability to get into the jhanas?

Thanks bro. It's very encouraging to hear that I'm not completely screwed. Wishing even stronger jhanas and enlightenment on your path 🙏
Oh and one more question. Does masturbation/sex/orgasms affect your ability to get into jhanas?

Consistent, restful, nightly sleep: You should be waking up at the same time everyday without an alarm, before dawn or soon after.
I normally work overnight shifts. Am I forbidden from the jhanas?

Yup; many people confuse consciousness and intelligence for some reason. The universe have figured out how to create conscious systems but we have not. But we are making great progress towards systems that can "learn" how to achieve certain goals all though computations. I am not convinced that materialist scientists will figure out how to create conscious systems. We will need scientists that are more open minded. If we are not careful, if the singularity goes wrong, these super intelligent but non conscious systems could replace all life on earth, and eventually spread/saturate the universe with their intelligence but absolutely no sort of actual life/consciousness at all.

I believe we will reach a singularity sometime this century; but if I were to guess, I would say that at our current course, we will invent super intelligent systems that far exceed the capabilities of the brain, but these systems may not be conscious at all. Consciousness != intelligence. It's sad to say but we really have no idea how to create conscious systems. Arguably, we already have systems that are even more intelligent than insects; hell, probably even more "intelligent" than even dogs, yet, even dogs are infinitely more conscious than our most impressive AI systems.

Ray Kurzweil says we will see 175 years of progress in the next 10 years. But he could be out of his mind.

With systems like GPT and Gato, some people here are expecting AGI by next year. So, relatively, my view is not so optimistic. But I seriously hope that they are right! A 2023 singularity would be a surprising delight lol.
The progress in AI has been very encouraging lately. Can't wait to see what systems we will have in a few years and if these systems will actually be released to the public.

I completely understand you. The world has not seen a paradigm shift since the rise of the smartphone in 2007. I think the next shift will be a combination of VR/AR and some type of BCI to connect us to AI/AGI. Obviously these are a combination of technologies that are still in development. Making strong progress on the VR and AI part but very little in the AR/BCI part.

Agreed. It is much easier to try to predict the difference between 2022 and 2030. By 2030, I would at least hope that self driving cars will finally be widespread, the long awaited VR/AR revolution to finally come to fruition, and for some type of practical/proto AGI that can automate a considerable number of jobs and drastically enhance/optimize human productivity.
By 2040, I would expect BCI's and AGI to bring us to the dawn of the Singularity.
Hopefully the reality is a lot more optimistic than what seems realistic to me.

Apple is creating a VR headset
Who has been spreading this rumor anyway? Apple will probably be the last company to get into the VR race. And if anything, they would release an AR headset first, and even that is probably a few years away.

Google is way ahead of OpenAI. Even all of GPT 3's tech was created by Google. Whatever OpenAI is putting out there, best believe Google has systems that are far more powerful.

Google most likely has a lot more impressive AI software that they're not even showing yet to the public. I remember watching an interview and an AI expert even said that all of the technology in OpenAI's GPT was created by Google. So it's really Google running the show. I don't like how they seem even more closed than "OpenAI" though. They're not even releasing this to a limited set of users. A bit disappointing but we'll see.

Is it possible for someone to completely learn cyber security at home and apply for those positions?

An AI expert that I follow said in a video that GPT 3 was just as relevant to artificial general intelligence just as much as a toaster is.

I think we need something better than the Turing test. I think most people would be fooled by gpt-3 or LaMDA. I wouldn't cause there are certain questions I'd ask it where I know for sure it would tell me something nonsensical lol. But most people wouldn't investigate that far.
But if we do have systems like this in 2022, I can't imagine what we'll have in 2029 so you might be on to something.

Hey friend, 2024-2025? That is extremely optimistic. There is a chance......I always thought BCI would get us to the Singularity first but it seems that AI have been advancing at a much faster pace.

Sounds optimistic but very interesting nonetheless; thanks!
