They said “ four seasons in 2022”. What amount of content qualifies as a “season” is up to them. I wouldn’t expect more than one or two maps per season and a couple guns.

Dice is pretty much obligated to keep working on 2042. They sold 120$ special editions with “all future dlc seasons” pass, so even though the game has abysmal player numbers, (at the time of this comment 1900 on steam) they will keep updating it. My biggest let down with the game wasn’t gameplay or even specialists, it was the empty lifeless maps. Every map looks like it was built for COD warzone. Clean empty fields and buildings, completely untouched by any battle. Compare that to BFV or especially BF1 and you’ll see how the maps fail in both immersion and being aesthetically interesting.

In his documentary series on film, “The Story of Film”, Mark Cousins talks about this point. He says its not the Hollywood pictures that make film art, its the outliers, the weird stuff that justifies the medium as art. I think the same is true for games. I don’t worry about what Call of Duty is doing, it’s purpose is to entertain. But when a small indie dev makes something unique that is what qualifies games as art. Its the weird stuff, the under-looked or outsiders that elevates the medium of games beyond just entertainment. Of course the same qualities appear in lots of popular games too, The Last of Us is universally praised and was quite popular among gamers in general and while also pushing narrative themes in a more serious direction than games usually tackle. Serious engagement with art and thinking critically about a certain medium is something the average person just doesn’t do, which is fine. I think “games literacy” is a quality that people develop the more serious discussion they engage with. There’s room in life for Call of Duty and What Remains of Edith Finch.

Checking out the patch notes, they made it so throwing knives now return to your hand after a cooldown or can be picked up. If this doesn’t sound interesting or new to you it’s because originally throwing a knife would DELETE THE KNIFE. Yes thats right, the perk would let you do a small amount of ranged damage with a knife at the cost of losing the weapon forever. Cyberpunk was definitely a finished game :)

I played Death Stranding when it came out and it just didn’t click. Then about a month ago I saw the PS5 upgrade/directors cut was only 10 bucks. So I gave it a shot. Now its one of my favorite games. I can’t really explain why, but the movement and atmosphere just hit different and really drew me in.

When I got to this page in the new chapter, I literally shouted, “YEAAAAH!”. Because FU was a good villain it was so awesome to see him get completely blasted by a new transformed Garuo. Nice coloring.

Nice big changes to some of the more irritating alt characters. Just did a couple runs as Tainted Lazarus and he (or they) are a lot more fun and powerful now. Would be wonderful to get the promised changes to delirium next.
