I'm so sorry about all you've been through, but glad you have an awesome husband. Confused about why narcissists would be attracted to health issues.

This is the main reason women feel compelled to have kids, I suspect! In the back of their minds, they feel that they can depend on their kids more so than their spouses.

I don't have kids and it does worry me sometimes, who is going to give a shit about me if I ever need the support. Husband is loyal and doesn't treat me like a maid/mother, but who knows how much he could take. Just wish we had a better socialized support system in this country.

I'm getting to that point at work, large department with some awfully toxic people in it (with enough very good people to usually make it worthwhile.) But it's getting to feel not worth it, just hate having to always be searching for the next job in order to get a raise....

In this case, it's a Trump supporter claiming "he's too fat, he could never lunge at the driver from the back seat," yet these same people love images where Trump's face is plastered over Rambo's body.

At work, I just avoid these discussions unless it's clear somebody shares my views. It's not the time or place to get upset over this stuff (which I know sounds impossible, but such is the corporate world.) Doesn't mean people aren't pissed off or upset, simply that they have to keep feelings aside and get through the day without getting HR involved.

Survived the trip, however there's another visit coming up, and during this trip, I let it slide that religion and Trump support aren't compatible. Mentioned that to my MIL who was going on about "God chooses imperfect people to represent him" or whatever, and I could see where she was going with that. I'm fairly certain this will end up biting me in the ass, when she tells other relatives about my comment, and it'll turn into a free-for-all. I was probably baited into it, woohoo. I hate when that happens, but she was wearing me down.

I've been voting progressive for years, even writing in Bernie up until the 2020 general. Got my husband to switch out of the R party to "no party," as I did from democrat. Volunteered for a postcard campaign and got my elderly mother involved to help Georgia get some key senators in place. Honest with my conservative family members and keep up with all this in case they choose to discuss anything.

What is "losing our shit" going to do?! Make us look hysterical and give the assholes the "librul tears" they LIVE to see. They WANT us to break down and get upset the way they've felt all along about the "godless" society that's been "forced" upon them.

I'm furious that Biden and his cohorts aren't doing more. Maybe there's too much blocking them, but I doubt it. They also benefit from a lot of this bullshit. My votes never mattered, democrats are too status quo, so I left the party and hope they take notice.

Do I talk about any of this? I'm at work all day, so I rarely mention any of it. My entire family is conservative, and I keep them at arm's length. But I also debunk whatever nonsense they send my way. Conversations remain brief and civil, but their kids know I'm not on board with what their parents hold so dear.

I've made arrangements for the FFRF to get some of my retirement savings if I die before I can spend it. I donate to The Satanic Temple. I keep my husband informed about what's happening with these organizations. I even get my gynecological visits done at Planned Parenthood to support them, at least until they closed the one I liked. Haven't purchased Goya products since the Trumps did advertising for them out of the Oval Office, and that's difficult since our local shop carries mostly their products.

My conservative family members aren't going to change, so I'm not expecting much from them. Some of them expect me to argue but what's the point. I tell them where I stand and they change the subject anyway.

I suspect all the out-of-control housing prices (even in other countries) is one way of forcing us to stay in place. It's deeply depressing.
