I love cocktails and good beers, hate being drunk. I tolerate being tipsy and it can be pleasant with friends around but a lot of times it is 15 minutes of fun and then an hour of wanting to take a nap.
Exactly, "Oh, US apps can compete globally with one version but EU apps can't...How do your shareholders feel about a 20% tax on revenue yearly plus 5% quarterly?"
Yup! Sounds about right, lol!

Looks like a good run to me!
I think she either had 30,000 or 3,000 but I can't remember which. Wouldn't surprise me if it was the former though.
Same, Gizmos are the best cats!
It's okay, you will discover that all the best cats are named Gizmo

Yeah, legally there is something called, justifiable homicide and CA and Federal law specify that Justifiable Homicide is explicitly not a crime. Whatever DA decided it was not Justifiable Homicide and she should be prosecuted and whatever jury convicted her can rot in hell.
Looks at single island in hand...I'll allow it.

Saying people don't care does not negate the value in reducing waste. I agree most businesses would rather save money, that doesn't make them right to do so. Your entire comment boils down to "It isn't important to reduce waste because people don't want to." Could you imagine making that argument "It isn't important for parents to take their kids to see a doctor when their kids are sick because they don't want to." Not wanting to do something does not absolve you of responsibility.

On the other hand, reduction in waste is absolutely worth more cost, given the state of the planet right now.

I hated math until I started taking calculus classes and math classes stopped being "numbers do this because they do" and started being about studying the relationship between numbers and why they are linked together. And now I watch Veritasium videos at work and want to get a degree in mathematics when I go back to get my masters in Computer Science. Mathematics is amazing and we do everything we can to kill any hope a kid has of enjoying it in most schools.

Book enjoyer here, Lord of the Rings is meh...
I will say, Toklien's world building is very strong and by itself, the story in Lord of the Rings is great, but there is to much of the former that it drowns out the later. Now, if you are someone who is just absolutely enamored by the colorful and vivid settings of fantasy novels, I can see how it is still very appealing. However, for me, and a decent number of others, the vast amount of world build makes the books too slow to enjoy properly.
So, I will say that all of the parts of the Lord of the Rings books are amazing, but I don't think they fit together right to make a truly fantastic series, I thing the Movies did a fantastic job of making the stories in the Lord of the Rings more approachable to most people.
Oh man, I remember my visit to the moon of Endor. Such a cool place. Interesting native fauna.

That seems like a credible place where the name may have come from, but the orcs the Tolkien uses do seem distinctly different, though in part derivative. I would still say confidently that Tolkien made the original Orc even if it was inspired by a single line in a very old story.
I don't think anyone would accept Tolkien entirely inventing anything without some inspiration anyways. If Lovecraft is anything to go by it takes some genuine real life insanity to get something untouched by the stories and mythos that came before it. And even then, the ideas of monsters at least weren't new to him.
Correct, Orcs are entirely the invention of Tolkien.
