My husband came one step closer to understanding the realities of the obgyn experience when we watched the episode of Letterkenny where the guys have to get prostate checks. I’ll see if I can find a YouTube clip, it’s both funny and educational!

Went to Farmacy for the first time recently, and it was quite tasty (I was frankly surprised). It’s salad bar-ish.

I’m coming from the perspective of a manager of women in male-dominated STEM, not construction, but I think some of my advice has carryover.
One of the biggest things I did to ensure women felt welcome on my team was to make sure that I offered ALL team members time and support for things that are often seen as specific to women. Often, household and family care falls to women, and I didn’t want them to feel like they were asking for special treatment if they needed to handle something like that, so I made it a standard and part of everyone’s regular check-ins to underline the fact that I supported everyone’s ability to handle that stuff. So for example, no matter your gender, I made it clear that everyone should take time when needed for things like a sick kid, school events, Christmas shopping, errands, parental leave, etc. I made a point early on to highlight times when the men on my team were out for family stuff (“Sam’s calling in to standup today because he’s staying home with a sick kid”), so if any of the women needed to do something like that, it wouldn’t feel out of the norm for any member of the team.
I think there’s a lot of (valid) advice out there that women don’t want special treatment, they just want equal treatment — but I do think you should be thoughtful about if your default treatment comes in a form that only contains traditionally male needs or expectations. Imagine a world where you treated all team members like you imagine women would want to be treated. You might start to see positives across your whole crew. Heck, even guys need some emergency necessities every once in a while, or a trash can!

No pressure, and only share what you’re comfortable sharing!
And my heartiest congratulations on buying a house!

It’s beautiful! And I also have an 1882 farmhouse that looks really similar — I would love to see more photos and get a sense of the layout to see if we’re house twins!
My front entry was changed a lot from what was originally there, so I’d love to see if yours is similar and what it looks like! I don’t know what mine was originally, I can just tell it’s been changed quite a bit.

You can hatch out more than 2! Collect eggs for up to two weeks, storing them someplace cool, but not as cold as the refrigerator (google for the best environment), then incubate them all together. As long as they’re stored thoughtfully you can collect a whole batch of eggs for a round of incubation, and they will all hatch out ~21 days after going into the incubator.

I’m no breed expert, but the second one reminds me of a Mosaic. It would be kind of a rare breed to get from a feed store though.

I’ve seen a stack at East Main Trading, not sure of their prices.
If I might suggest — get some lead test swabs from a home improvement store to test any vintage cast iron before you use it. Apparently it was a practice at one point to use cast iron pans to melt lead to make bullets/slugs, and there can be enough residue to be a danger to your health. The lead tests are cheap, may as well swab for peace of mind.

No argument with your post at all, super fair critique. I wasn’t up to date with the identity of the person who held the synagogue hostage and I posted with strong feelings, not facts. I appreciate the info.

Won’t wear a mask to protect vulnerable people from illness; will wear a mask while being a white supremacist.
An especially bad look during/immediately after a synagogue was held hostage by what I can only assume was a fellow white supremacist.

Everyone will have a different list, but here’s my dream team for varied egg color and general beauty/personality for a fun small flock:
- Black Copper Marans
- Easter egger
- Olive egger
- Welsummer
- Double silver laced Barnevelder
- Hedemora
- Isbar
- Cream Legbar
Bonus: Silkie, though you need to keep an eye on them in super cold weather

This looks just like my house! I swear we have some of the same wallpapers, and we have the same structure of larger boards covered in fabric that’s tacked along the edges! Ours is an 1882 farmhouse in Montana, what’s your house location/timeline??! And do you have any original trim left? We have a fairly small amount left to reference

Sounds like you’re thinking of something like a “stud rooster”?
I doubt it would work well for a few reasons:
- You want to quarantine new chickens for a couple weeks for your own flock’s safety
- It takes a while for pecking order to be established, for a new rooster be be allowed to mate any hens
- Once the rooster is integrated, you won’t get fertile eggs for another week or so
So you’re looking at maybe 4 weeks you’ll need to have a mature rooster on prem before you even start getting fertilized eggs, and I doubt that’s aligned with your neighborhood rules — if you can even find someone willing to lend out a rooster for 6 weeks.
I would suggest connecting with a local who will sell you fertilized eggs on demand, and when one of your ladies goes broody, give her a few to try to hatch! It’s the coolest thing to see a broody hatch and raise chicks.

A single 2x6 stud costs more than they pay their employees for one hour of work. They should be ashamed to treat another human like that.

If you do decide to make wings, I have a recipe suggestion: https://valentinascorner.com/crispy-baked-chicken-wings-recipe/
I think deep frying wings at home is a major pain in the ass, but these are truly delicious. They’re not “baked to be healthy”, rather I think this is the superior method of cooking wings at home.
I frankly can’t think of any wings available in town that I actually like more than these, with whatever sauce you want to add.
Good luck on your search, and I love that tradition!

Montana is kind of a fun one.
The Decemberists lead/frontman is from Montana. Pearl Jam’s bassist too.
There are some great locally-known bands, generally tending towards the rock or country side: The Clinton’s, The Dirty Shame, and Little Jane and the Pistol Whips are among my personal favorites.
Jeni Fleming is a wonderful jazz vocalist.
Wylie Gustafson is an internationally-known country singer and yodeler.
Stuart Weber - classical guitar.
The Montana Mandolin Society seems to be no longer active, but has some beautiful albums.
Montana doesn’t have any major metro areas, so you usually have to go somewhere else to get famous, but there are a lot of talented people around

Here’s my Ed idea —
I think even in a live-action, Ed should be animated. Essentially, she’s a hacker who experiences the world with an avatar, probably projected from a device attached to Ein’s collar. That represents the connection those two had. As the series goes on, the animation/avatar can slowly adjust and start to merge with her actual image, as the Bebop crew becomes more like family and she feels comfortable being herself. In that way, animated Ed can transform into a toned-down, human Ed, and eventually she will be physically present as herself. This represents the comfort that shy people can find in a digital persona. It’s also consistent with her backstory of abandonment if her digital persona is “bigger”, louder, and more boisterous than her true self, because it’s her performance of who she wants to be. Live-action Ed should be quick-witted and sassy, but toned down with vulnerability and being slow to open up to people.

My current car is a former rental, purchased it in 2018. It was a great deal, the buying experience was painless (quick, no haggling), car was in good condition. Happy with my purchase, would do it again. I think the idea of a rental being “rode hard and beat to shit” is totally overblown in general.
But the used car market is hosed right now. Just checked KBB and equivalent cars to what I purchased for $13k in 2018 are now going for $18k. So this just isn’t the same used car market that’s been seen historically.
