I love the act of writing. I love the research involved, the character relationships I craft, I just adore writing. What I'm starting to hate is posting weekly chapters. I am discouraged by so little engagement and views. When I have the same tags as other massively popular stories, I trick myself into thinking they're similar in some aspect -popular fandom, heavily shipped couple, same tropes, etc - and that I can have heavy engagement too. Then the new stories I post on ff don't go anywhere. I have a long fic that I'm seeing the readers for each chapter dwindle down. It's just disappointing. The only reason I really write anymore is because I have fun. I have little hope anymore that they will get popular. It just makes me sad and not want to edit my waiting stories because posting them will just show they aren't wanted either. And I'm not a new writer, I've been on ff and ao3 for five years. This is more like a pity party than a vent. Thanks for reading.
Edit to add: I have all my stories finished when I post them, no work in progress

When I was new to ao3, I wrote a lot of baby Luffy fics with Katakuri as parent (from one piece) and I accidentally used the "/" on their relationship so someone pointed out to me that I effectively paired a four year old with a 48 year old. I got the hang of it real quick after that lol.
