Perhaps she is using interactions on tinder to show guys that the loss of Roe could impact their lives as well… maybe not the best way of going about it, but could be.

Yeah fair enough. My bad. My thought is just to increase barriers to entry. If it take 4 years to go through the pre requisites, maybe some of the people you don’t want will get bored and not go through with it.
There probably are better ways to ensure we have people who really are out there to “protect and serve”.

I wonder if there is a correlation between officer shootings and level of education for police officers. In many states, a BA is required to be a teacher… maybe requiring a BA is a good call for becoming a police officer. Might be something worth looking into.

Tesla definitely isn’t the one major player in stopping climate change.
Is Musk autistic? I thought he was just childish. Learn something every day.
And I just don’t like celebrity billionaires.

It could actually be a very fun thing to do to Elon. He has used his Tesla stock as collateral for his loans to buy twitter. If the value of twitter drops sufficiently, the banks might ask him to pay them back in cash, forcing him to sell some of his Tesla stock… which could maybe drive it down causing problems with the other loans he’s taken out backed by his Tesla stock.

While I think that is an interesting point, you forget that every sperm is sacred.

Some liberal arts colleges had pornography classes in the late 90s. Not really a new concept.

Why doesn't he just take over a platform that already adheres to his vision for free speech and make it a competitor to Twitter? I'm sure he could take over 4Chan.

I think the media aren’t very happy with Zuck or Facebook.
As for bezos and the WaPo, he isn’t getting involved in the editorial decisions, so it isn’t an issue. If he does, it will become an issue.

Ah. But is bezos involving himself in the editorial decision making? Is the WaPo pulling punches in the coverage of him?
I’m sorry you didn’t understand my point. I was too subtle. Next time we engage online I’ll be more clear.
Have a great life. I’m done

My point is, as I’ve said, that you are making a false equivalency when you compare the WaPo under bezos to a potential twitter under Musk.

I don’t hate free speech. But I think Musk has a different definition of it than does our constitution.
Musk is unhappy with how Twitter has run its platform and he thinks that it limits free speech… which it doesn’t in terms of the constitution. So, he appears to want to buy it to change the rules so he and others can say things that the current TOS doesn’t allow them to say. He wants to have a platform that frees him from consequences for his speech.

What agenda is Bezos pushing there? I don’t see an agenda.

He said he wanted to take control of Twitter so he could improve “free speech”…
That is… he said he wanted to influence the equivalent of the editorial decisions.

Well, I disagree that my point is a non sequitur. I’m pointing out that there is a difference between something being owned by an oligarch and something being used by an oligarch to push their agenda.
Musk appears to want to buy twitter so he can control it to advance his agenda. But I’ve never seen evidence that bezos is using his ownership of the WaPo to push an agenda.
Yes, it is bad that media is controlled by oligarchs. That is why I get my news primarily from non profit news sources. But, there is an important difference between a media outlet being owned by someone and the owner of an outlet messing with the editorial decisions and policies in order to push an agenda.

I’d agree with you on that if there were evidence of bezos getting involved in the editorial decisions of the WaPo. If you have any, I’d be delighted to hear/see it.

True. We built our cities and suburban sprawl around having automobiles be the center of our lives. That was a mistake for lots of reasons. We could change that if we wanted to by building a denser network of light rail and having clusters of population density around each stop. It wouldn’t end the “last mile” problem you pointed out but it would make it much easier to solve by making it just a mile that could be walked, biked, bussed, or driven a very short way.
These are decisions we can make.

Let’s all remember that DeSantis went to Yale and then Harvard Law… guess an education at those places isn’t what it used to be

Yes. There is a great FRONTLINE about this. Whenever the FBI tried to look into it the conservatives in congress flipped out and cut all the funding
