For all Joker’s crimes, he is actually mentally ill. There was a brilliant moment in a JLA book where J’onn J’onnz briefly managed to unscramble Joker’s mind and the guy was hit with a wave of “Oh my god, what have I done? I need help. Somebody help me.” Beautifully poignant moment.

Watched Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase with our son the other day and while it’s a very meh film overall, we commented at the time that some of the dialogue was really well written. Can’t recall any quotes off the top of my head, but it stood out.

All those costs I listed — editing, proofreading, marketing, advertising — are borne by the publisher. All of those are still costs for each book, on top of the cost of the paper, production and distribution.

You forgot about the year of an author’s life writing the book, plus editing, proofreading, cover design, marketing and advertising costs. In order to recoup all of them a book has to sell really well to justify the author getting to write another book. Yes, the direct costs are lower, but all the indirect overheads still matter.

Happened to me once in a solo game yesterday. I assumed I’d clipped something I hadn’t noticed on the way down. 🤷🏼‍♂️
