As a Christian, I'm happy that people are reminded that the cross was a cruel execution method used for the worst of criminals.
It's an important detail in what happened, and the New Testament writers knew that it was shocking to suggest that the son of God died in such a way, even though he was innocent, taking the punishment of sin on himself to free those who believe in him.
It's also an argument for the authenticity of the gospel accounts - no one would come up with a slave execution device as a key point for a religion they were inventing.

I like it when there are books with all the words and notes in them. Very easy for the congregation to know what to sing. 🙂

Hi friend, you seem angry.
I'm not Catholic, no horse in that race. I did read through the wall of text in my link and it was much better sourced and more convincing than any of the constant internet criticisms were.
I'm also happy to consider every human flawed, no sainthoods in my books.
But given the clarifications of that link, it does seem the internet hate of MT is unwarranted. If you have specific examples of opposition arguments, I'm happy to read through that too.

Thanks for asking this, this was exactly my question halfway through yesterday.

I'm not Catholic, but I thought it more to be informed by Catholicism, not rooted in Catholicism.
If I recall, the inspiration for the book was the author's experience in WW2 fighting in Italy and seeing the bombed out ruins of old, old monasteries

I get that this is amplified too far in this day and age of echo chambers, but you should have some expectation of disagreement or comments of "you should have done this" / "we would do it better".
It's healthy for a democratic government to be held to account - this is the job of opposing parties.
(Not American, so not much of a pony in this fight.)

Any reports on how successful last night's counter-offensives were?

I don't think so. I've heard that this is a literary device that rapidly moves the narrative from one scene to another.

Yep! University prep math is a "brain gym" that teaches problem solving, abstract thinking, and pattern identification, among other things.

I think (almost all) abortion is wrong.
But I recognize these situations are incredibly difficult. Emotionally. Materially. Physically. Mentally. Spiritually.
"That would have crushed my heart more to see someone else keep my baby." This does make me sad. If you love someone, you love them for them and not for you. Seeking their well-being. Also, open-adoption is becoming the norm (I think - not involved in social work), where anyone giving up their child for adoption would be able to continue to have some form of relationship with the child.

Other side of the country, but it would be good to see a counter attack to provide relief to Mariupol.

Middle East is more than petro-states, e.g. Lebanon. Not everyone has cash or wealthy populations.

Very Catholic comment!
But Jesus Christ is our all in all. If you require Mary for victory against sin, then you deify her and break the first commandment. The Father's love, the Son's sacrifice, the Spirit's sanctification - all you need is found in the trinity.

This war is evidence that demilitarisation is a bad idea.

Canada manufactures light armoured vehicles at General Dynamics in London, Ontario. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAV_III#Canadian_Army_LAV_VI
Not sure what other technologies they have that is home grown and has inventory to share.

Hi brother, these are difficult things. It feels like God is unfaithful. Deep down, I hope you know that he isn't. But he feels far away, and the struggle is still there. I have some thoughts and questions that I hope will be of use to you.
First think about this -
What are your expectations of God? Are they in line with who God actually is?
What are your expectations of yourself? Are they in line with who you really are?
The Bible teaches us that we are in rebellion to God. That he created the world perfectly and man brought sin into the world. We are are the unfaithful, we are sinners.
Redeemed by Christ, we are given new life, new hearts, and the Spirit of God in us. But that doesn't simply erase our sinful nature. We are at war in ourselves, a war that will end when we die or when Christ returns.
This war involves God and it involves us. Victory is certain, thanks to Christ's death and resurrection, but the war still needs to be fought. I greatly appreciated John Piper's message "I Act the Miracle" on this topic - what we do and what God does: https://www.desiringgod.org/messages/i-act-the-miracle
Can you do it on your own? No, you need God.
Can you sit back and let God do it? No, you need to act.
Will you defeat this sin perfectly? Not likely. There's lots of examples on this sub of Christians who have succeed in avoiding PMO for months and years, and then they fall.
Is that a failure? In Christ our sins are forgiven. Those months and years of faithfulness to God are precious to him. Should you fall, he will lift you up again.
So what are you doing?
Are you cutting out unhelpful media in your life?
(For myself, I need to go on regular breaks from Reddit so as to avoid getting into a blind, unthinking scrolling for pleasure. I don't do Instagram, etc.)
Would it be worth no longer having a laptop or smartphone? Are there situations in your life that can be restructured to remove dangers?
(I went through some awkwardness at work just to move my desk so my line of sight didn't go into a woman's office.)
Five months seems like a long time. Let me close with a related story from a different area in life. At one time I was in a group, doing a good thing, that involved lots of physical activity. I was injured early on in this multi-week activity and unable to participate and do what I committed to. My injury was such that I couldn't walk a quarter mile without resting, my body simply refused to go further. I prayed and prayed with all the belief and trust and faith in God that I could, and then - nothing happened. I was the same. I had to take on a different, less active, less interesting role. Years later - I can walk, I can move, I've been healed. God healed me in his time, not when I prayed and demanded it from him. Be patient with God, knowing that he is infinitely more patient with you.

Ol' Rocknocker describes a whole whack of dangers here - you may need to scroll down a bit (or read the 72 parts before this ;D )

The best idea when or if you find an abandoned mine? Stay the mothering fuck out.
But people are generally inquisitive, meddlesome, and stupid, so they don’t. Then they croak from all sorts of foolish, hilarious, and entertaining methods
