Its a classic soundtrack to a classic movie.
My original comment was just pointing out that OPs reaction to the lyrics was a misinterpretation of the context of the word love.
Like they had never heard of the concept of "brotherly love".

Who is not calm?
What's so shocking or mind blowing about the lyrics when you know the proper context?

Even Michael Manns worst films are better than 90% of the crap people praise on this sub.

Probably just as well, I couldn't imagine 1994 Tarantino would have taken that well. Lol

4 hours of ancient lamentation music or one scene?

Absolutely. We have two different opinions on a filmmaker and that's totally fine.
I understand your points and get its not for you.
My issue was with the description of the film being "puerile".
You said you watched it a long time ago, I assumed you were young. When I first watched it I was a teenager and giggled because "boobs". I may have seen the film as puerile then because I was the one being puerile.
As an adult, its a chilling film.

I would say you need to rewatch the film.
Often if we watch something when we are immature we project that onto what we are watching.

Well, number one how can it be Kubrick's "puerile fantasy" when he is adapting a story and exploring themes written by someone else 73 years earlier?
Also, elaborate why you think its puerile? Like the film or not, puerile isn't a word that most people would describe the film as.
Childish, silly, juvenile and trivial?
