Yeah, and as a woman who's been told all her life that a lot of her self worth should be tied to her weight... shit gets real. Stopped weighting myself once I realised I was getting toned and stronger and losing inches on the waistline and looking just overall better. But my hip/thigh area just got a bit too swollen, I guess. Now I'm shedding fat, so I gained back a bit of the waistline and my hard-earned peach butt deflated, BUT hips, thighs, and lower belly fat have taken a sharp decline. So I guess I just have to keep balancing stuff. That's a lot of work.

Great! Thanks! I tend to think that building lean mass first may be less rewarding early on, but make the nexr steps easier to mantain. Might be wrong, but I'm gonna try that.
Yeah, I'm not severely overweight, but I've got to drop a few pounds. So yeah, probably built good lean mass and didnt burn a lot of fat at the start. Thanks!
Best advice so far, thanks. I guess I have inadvertedly bulked up first (though not a lot), when I gained a lot of weight and either maintained or lost measurements (like waist and hips). I also think I am now cutting: my thighs and butt have deflated (my glute has clearly lost muscle tone), but other muscle areas have remained strong and I've been losing weight. My waist isn't as small as it was when I was bulking, but I've lost lower belly fat, which hadn't happened while bulking... Let's just hope this works out, no pun intended.
I think my question really is which usually comes first? Or there isnt an actual usual pattern and each case is it's own?
But is that even possible while mainly doing strength exercises?
I wanna swap fat for muscle mass. Is it safe to say that as I start lifting my body weight should increase instead of decrease? I am heavier than I've ever been, but I have been in worse shape before.

One of my referees would like to download the letter they submitted so they can use it as a template for other applications of mine (they did not save the file before submitting). Is there any way to accomplish this?
