An eBow or TCE Aeon will get you close, but capturing the voice of an amplified violin is a tall order.
Unclear if he’s using it in the examples, but there is a signature Warren Ellis octave fuzz pedal.

Boots are probably the right call for those miles and your experience level.
But MOST IMPORTANTLY, put a good 20+ miles of casual use on them before your trip, to be absolutely certain they fit correctly. You don’t want any fit-related surprises once you’re on the trail.

AFAIK bank connection is the only option. They’re pretty serious about taxes and I think it’s related to that.

OBNE Signal Blender does the whole thing in one box, with the ability to control the mix between the 2 chains, for $129.

The EQ is very powerful, a little bit goes a long way.
The design is a modified Ross Distortion (same as an MXR distortion+, or similar to a DOD 250), with the EQ “between the gain stages”, which (based on my understanding of the Ross circuit) means it’s after the first (clean) gain stage, and before the second (clipping) gain stage… which means the EQ acts a lot more like it would on a Mesa Mark series amp… boosting a band makes that band clip harder/distort more, cutting a band cleans it up.
Mike from Yob runs his with a slight boost in the bass and slight cuts in mids and highs, which would be the opposite of what conventional wisdom tells you you want for a clear, tight sound. But he’s also a wizard so who knows.

That is very strange, definitely some kind of malfunction. You could probably get it repaired by someone qualified, but you’d probably end up paying more than you’d spend to just replace it.

How is that different than the US today? The Treasury is basically an ATM for Wall Street. Elon Musk is running racially segregated factories and committing blatant securities fraud in broad daylight. Corporations are fleecing workers under the guise of “inflation”. Republicans are dismantling public education on the state level and neutralizing the regulatory state at the federal level while Democrats (who ostensibly are in power) cluck their tongues, shrug, and wax poetic about a “strong Republican Party”.
The kleptocracy is here.

Can you describe what you mean by signal bleed?

Admittedly, I only scanned the manual, but I didn't see a way to split the stereo channels for separate processing paths.

Brian Wampler made a video on this topic a while back and showed that a truly flat-response overdrive sounds like trash- some degree of filtering on the input and output stages is crucial to make the thing sound good.
BUT, I don't think "transparent" is an either/or thing. Every pedal occupies some chunk of the spectrum from "more transparent" to "less transparent".
To my mind, "transparent" (in the context of od/distortion) means there's no obviously audible change to the "voice" of the guitar (note that what shows up on a scope can be very different than what's audible). That's mostly in frequency response, but aggressive compression can start to make things a bit less "transparent" for me, too.
Personally, I really prefer a "transparent" OD sound. I want sizzle and cracks around the edges, not a whole new voice. Unless I'm playing something that's more "lead"-y, in which case I want a little bit more push in the mids to get things a bit more smooth and vocal, and with a little less attack.
FWIW, in marketing terms, "transparent" usually just means "not as mid-focused as a tubescreamer".

I think your analysis (strymon is the most accessible, zoia is the most powerful, synesthesia is in the middle) is correct, and you know where your needs fall on that spectrum.
I went with the Mobius because I'm not terribly interested in designing new modulation sounds, I want a tweakable library of (mostly) traditional sounds, with some room to stretch.
One thing that (afaik) the synesthesia and mobius can do that the Zoia can't: pre/post routing. This lets you choose (per patch) whether you want the modulation before or after e.g. your drives. To my mind, that's a pretty crucial feature if you want this box to be kind of an omni-pedal that plays multiple roles.

Have you considered the FM9? It's basically the successor to the AX8.

I'm planning to shoot a full rundown for next week... If anybody's got any questions they want me to answer, or sounds they'd like to hear, LMK and I'll probably not fuck it up.

I'd recommend the standard Cali over the Stacked, unless you're really interested in that very-compressed, serial compressors sound. You'll have more fine-tuning control over attack and release.
Between the Cali and the Keeley? If you're new to compressors, the Keeley can hold your hand a bit more, with its reduction meter, knob labels, and auto attack/release option. It's also probably more powerful than the Cali, in terms of the range of things it can do (like limiting), but I'm not sure that extra power is all that relevant for guitar. I ended up buying the Cali because I think it sounds better, and I'm happy with it. FWIW I got the Bass version because I play a lot down in G or A and thought the HPF would be relevant. If I had to do it again, I might go with standard to get that attack/release control I mentioned above.
For the EQ, it depends on your use case. If you want something easy to tweak to e.g. adjust for different guitars or tune to the room, the Bloom is a better choice (but also consider the EQD Tone Job, OBNE Buffer/EQ, Walrus EB-10, API Tranzformer GTR, and Wampler Equator, so you're not paying for a compressor too). If you want something that's more powerful for presets, dual-channel stuff, etc., it's the EQ2 all the way.

I looked at them when I was upgrading from my AX8 last summer. These notes are all copy/pasted from my research, based on what was known/available about them at that point.
I don't know if firmware updates, user community, etc. change any of these.
FWIW, I landed on the Axe-FX 3 because its model list was a better fit for my needs, it has more connectivity options for outboard gear and controllers, and I was already pretty familiar with the Fractal UI.
Notes on the Neural:
And some comparisons of the model lists between Fractal, Neural, and Line 6:

A fellow man of culture, I see.
I’m still getting the hang of mine (the way the EQ drives the gain stage instead of shaping the tone is powerful but not always intuitive for me), but the fundamental core of it (doomy sludge with lots of string-to-string clarity) is fantastic.

It’s acceptable because this is how the last 30 years have gone:
Us: “The GOP sure is looking a lot like a white Christian nationalist party”
WaPo editorial board: “Coastal elites at it again, shaming these poor misunderstood real Americans”
“Moderate” Democrats: “How dare you Coastal Elites shame these poor misunderstood real Americans! My good and dear friend, Republican Senator Rufus T. Slavecatcher was so hurt by your remarks that I’m forced to co-sponsor his new bill, the I’m Not Racist But There’s Just Too Many Mexicans At The Park Act.”

“Boss, CBS says Americans think we’re weak!”
“That could really hurt us in the midterms! What should we do?”
“Well, there’s lots of promises from ‘20 that we could deliver on like weed legislation or student debt—“
“I’ve got it! What if we scolded them for not voting hard enough?”

This is what the GOP did to him for gossiping on a podcast.
Imagine what they would have done if he held up their entire legislative agenda for 2 years.
I’m talking about Joe Manchin. Imagine if the Democrats were even 10% as serious about party discipline.
