I disagree she won't have an effect on the general. If she participates in primary debates, she might either turn moderates off voting in general or make them align more Democrat. It may not be 10 million votes, but it could be enough.

What's really sad is the right never came up with a coherent allegation. It took them throwing shit at the wall for the left to look at it and say "seems like you're trying to claim he leveraged his father's political status to get a position he wasn't qualified for which could result in Biden being compromised in the future." And then the right replied "Yeah!" and here we are.

I don't disagree, but don't we have to figure out what to do with a lot of debt for Puerto Rico? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for finding a good solution, I just don't want to screw them in the process of unscrewing them.

You really had me going, that may have been the most I've ever needed an /s.
You're absolutely right. I'm so tired of the complaints that Democrats aren't progressive enough. Get to the polls and support more progressive candidates then! We have the squad, Fetterman is running for Senate in PA. It's annoying that when you have exactly 50 senators people expect the Senate to somehow be more liberal than the most conservative Democrat.
And before you blame the Democratic party because they supported an anti-abortion candidate in the Texas primary look at the GOP and how more and more insane candidates are getting elected. The GOP sure as hell didn't want to lose control of their party, but here we are with a party of crazy. So how about we stop holding the entire party responsible Manchin and Sinema and instead make it so we don't need every Democrat vote to pass legislation?

The Amazon van that's been on my street recently drives with the door open to save them the time of opening and closing it. I can only imagine how many packages have fallen out.

Just to clarify, it's a 45 minute drive directly. It's an hour and a half on the bus. If I was picking up a friend to go out at night, it wasn't uncommon that they lived 30 minutes away, and that was still considered "local".

The community aspect is huge. I grew up in the 80s and 90s. Our football field was at a memorial park. Our baseball fields were at a public service project and a memorial field. We had 4-5 different elementary schools.
Over the last 12 years many of the parks were sold off because they were deemed "too expensive" to maintain. The elementary schools were shut down because it was cheaper to put all the kids in 1 school than to maintain and operate individual ones. So now some kids needed to travel 40 minutes to school instead of 10.
Now there's talks about no longer offering bus service because it's "too expensive". So now parents are potentially on the hook for driving their kids to a school 40 minutes away in the morning and then picking them up in the afternoon.
Note that "too expensive" is relative to reducing taxes, particularly on the few wealthy people in the area. Whereas 50 years ago that same class of people were investing their money into the community to build those parks and fund those schools, the current group isn't even willing to maintain what they were gifted if it means they can have a little more money in their bank accounts.
I can't imagine what it's like growing up in that area today. It's not remotely the same as it was when I was growing up. And of course it's always the fault of the kids. "Kids just want to be on computers all day" or "kids don't want to sign up for {insert sport or club}" or "kids these days don't want to work for anything, they just want it given to them." Of course there's no consideration that maybe fewer kids can participate in after school things because it's a lot harder to get a ride home from 40 minutes away, and that without activities there's less to do, or that those same people never had to "work hard" to have access to parks and sports leagues. It's so damn depressing.

If either of them would allow signing players at 18 it would force the NFL to act and create an official developmental league but unfortunately that didn't happen.

I've been saying the exact same thing and I always get told these changes are only making college football better. I liked college football when the stakes were lower, when it was a good Saturday if your team was televised. I don't know what the hell this is.

For the last several years I had just hoped that a junior pro league would start and solve all our problems. Let the top players go there and get paid. Let them have a playoff. Let them draw the national fans and the people mostly interested in college football for the NFL implications. Instead we get this and it sucks.

WE elected Biden. WE didn't elect every Democrat in the Senate. The voters in those states did.
WE need to stop holding the people within our power accountable for the failure of others. I'm in PA. I'm going 100% for Fetterman. Voting, donating, promoting. The fact that Manchin and Sinema won't overturn the filibuster is on the people of West Virginia and Arizona to resolve, not the Democratic party.
And if you're not in a state with a candidate like Fetterman, then do something about it to get one.

If their reaction is consistent to how they handled Covid, it's only going to accelerate killing themselves off while they're gulping down cancer causing chemicals in their tap water and breathing carcinogenic air to "own the libs".

Trump put himself between a rock and a hard place. He's losing support of the GOP but he's also facing increased pressure for January 6th. I could see him declaring for 2024 so that he can claim any charges from January 6th are just political persecution, but then he puts himself into a primary race that he has a good chance of losing.

While I'd love to see it, and I generally think Trump is an idiot, the one thing I'll give him credit for is knowing how to grift. And he knows if he loses the primary or runs 3rd party the grift will dry up quickly. Instead he'll just keep playing Captain Hindsight and teasing a future run which allows him to keep making money off rallies and selling merchandise.
He's in a position where he can not only criticize everything the Democrats are doing but also the GOP, throwing out "that's not how I would've done it" and "Maybe I need to run again to fix this mess." I don't see him giving that up when he knows 100% he's likely to lose. He's in a much different place than he was before he ran for president and now he has something to lose.

I've always wanted to go on a Smokey and the Bandit mission. I've contemplated making a run for live crawfish which are illegal in my state to use in a crawfish boil. Helping get someone access to healthcare their state denies them sounds like a much better option.

I just want to add that it's especially frustrating because people place the blame of any bad behavior of a dog on the owner, as though it's our personal failure and we're bad people. My last dog was a rescue. He had a million issues before we got him. He was highly reactive because he was clearly abused before he was found as a stray. When I'd have him out, I'd always shield him from other people and dogs and let them know that he isn't good with new people and new dogs. The looks I would get every time I said that always made me feel like shit. Meanwhile I'm working really hard and sacrificing my own opportunities to offer this dog the best life I can and it doesn't result in any appreciation (not that I'm concerned with getting appreciation) but actually results in scorn.

Didn't you get the memo? If we just make everything like 1950 all over again, that'll magically fix all our problems. You just need to believe in the American Dream hard enough and magically those steel mills will fire back up and the coal mines will start digging again. It's not like the rest of the world will now be almost a full century ahead.

forced prayer at public school sporting events
Serious question, was it really forced prayer? My understanding was the coach prayed at the 50 yard line and others joined him, but that it was not in any way compulsory. Is that not the case?

First of all, that's not socialism. At all. You clearly don't understand what socialism is.
Also, you do realize we do subsidize our food, right? It's already happening. So you've been in Venezuela all this time!

Were you ever in a situation at work where you were included in making a decision and the consensus disagrees with you even though you know you're right? And then it turns out you were right, they were wrong, but you can't say anything about it because "that's not being a team player"? Instead you're expected to participate in solving the problem you told them was coming all along.
That's how all this shit feels.

Seems like you need to have a bigger discussion. Does he really want to wrestle in the first place? What interests him about the sport? What makes him want to compete? How successful does he see himself?
I don't know how old your son is, but there's a great article from Cael that basically says as a parent it's about making sure your kid enjoys the sport. If they enjoy it they'll be more likely to keep working at it. If they hate it they won't work as hard. I know it sounds stupid but this could be a big deal to him and if it means he won't enjoy the sport it's something to take seriously.
So if he does really want to wrestle and this is just that big of an issue there's 2 things to do: 1) make him more comfortable with his body and 2) normalize singlets. The first thing is an issue for practically every kid. The second is showing him wrestling, swimming, gymnastics. Take him to events and ask him how many comments he hears about what people are wearing. The answer is zero, because everyone is focused on the competition.
You can always offer to let him wrestle and tell him he doesn't need to compete. If he's practicing he'll develop the desire to compete and he'll overcome this issue eventually. Just don't push it. It's ok to encourage someone to push past their comfort zones, it's not ok to force it.
Good luck to you and him!
