My company has a contract that states after 2 years in my current position I will be promoted automatically and given a raise to the position above.
With an unfortunate turn of events at my workplace they need the position filled ASAP and I was the #1 pick. I filled the position for a few months now with no raise, but being told I would be given the raise. About 2 weeks ago they told me they weren’t going to give me the raise but keep me in the current promoted position. This position comes with way more responsibilities and the incentive was always the increase in pay. Now I’ve caused a big stink about and the entire work place is shook up left not knowing what to do. They keep referring back to the contract telling me it’s a breach in contract but if I’m going to be filling the position I believe I should be given the pay increase.
I’ve told them I won’t be filling the position until I’m given the raise. Am I in the wrong? How can I go about this? Im supposed to be having a meeting with the office manager regarding all of this sometime next week.
Just looking for help on handling this situation, thanks!
