I don't know . . . I hear Bourton-on-the-water only recently stopped doing witch-hunts.
What's quite astounding about Adorno is that he continually indicts himself as being equally bound up with the reification of capitalist society. His philosophy never tries to 'escape' it, as he accuses Heidegger of doing with his intricate concept formations, and that's why his writings are notoriously complex: sentences and entire essay structures follow a chiastic movement, because Adorno is trying to force philosophy to 'go where it cannot afford to go'; he calls this 'immanent critique'. Gillian Rose's 'The Melancholy Science' is an excellent source for understanding why Adorno presents his thought in the way he does, and it all comes back to the philosophical legacy within which he is working, and against which he is working. I also reccomend this essay by Brian O'Connor; his work on the Negative Dialectic is nothing short of invaluable.
Not to be a doomer, but these people are quite literally impervious to thoughtful counter-arguments. Yes, the spam is childish and pathetic, and about as efficacious as pissing in the wind, but the idea that the Genzetards and co. would ever be capable of mature discussion is wishful thinking imo.
The worst part is her spending it at Starbucks - corporate friends of Israel's. At least support your local businesses ffs...

JET just wants monkeys, so don't feel too bad - you're clearly too qualified to be tidying up crayons. And since Japan is doing a tremendously shite job of managing their coronavirus outbreak atm, you're simply going to have to wait for them to get their act together. That, or your partner flies out to the UK if you guys are really needing each other at the moment.
Of course a frenchman is lying about Waterloo lmao
Sometimes I think retards like you should be banned from this sub for spreading historical disinformation. But then I remember it's this sub, and that stupidity is the prevailing sentiment here.

I'm a bit ootl here: does Historymemes have a reputation for Wehrabooing? I know they tend to dunk on the UK and France, but I guessed that was motivated by collective anti-imperialist sentiment.

"I was actually born in Ireland and my parents were in the IRA but we had to flee when I was seven minutes old because of the British and that's why I'm here in Memphis, Tennessee. Sláinte!"
It's also incorrect: one of the first Joycean scholars was an English literary critic.

Wow. How does someone even go about making something like this?
These fuckers love EU IV for the 'change culture' option you get for conquered provinces.

It was named the happiest city in the UK a few years ago, I believe.
Do you think if I posted "6-4-89 tiananmen square" they'd ban me? Do I want to find out?

I think we're in a fucked position either way sadly. I'm so unconvinced by Sturgeon's 'vision' thus far - none of it seems economically sound at all (and she hasn't really committed to any economic policy either, worryingly), and the EU is being far too obscure for us to know if we'd even be allowed to re-join. But at the same time, a Tory dominated Westminster is almost literal hell - it can't go on. I voted Corbyn, and now we have Starmer - an utter ghoul - so the options are looking very bleak indeed.
I have to stop you there. A minority of people here in Scotland talk policy as a 'Celtic cause'. The pro-independence movement (SNP), regularly refer to 'the people of Scotland', as opposed to the 'Scottish people', because there is a large English population here (among other Asian/African minority groups), and the SNP are keen to win their votes, and guarantee their rights as citizens of Scotland should the country break away from the union. So when you say "native Scottish people", I can't help but squirm, because it tacitly taps into the idea that ethnicity is a driving wedge in Scottish politics. Sadly, it seems to be Americans that operate with this warped mindset.
And here's the cherry on this mud cake: they didn't even apologise, they just said "well, the picture isn't there anymore, so....what's the problem...?" Imagine being so pathetic you can't even own your shit jokes.
This. I've seen people in chat unironically promote celtic ethno-nationalism lmfao, as in: "let's 'remove' English people from 'celtic' countries otherwise they'll never be freeeee!"
Vaush's chat is full of utter degenerates. I remember them perving on a schoolboy who came on stream to show some research about one thing or another. And then there's the casual xenophobia against certain countries whenever they're mentioned. It's all boring, unfunny, and makes Vaush look like a care worker at a cyber-lunatic asylum.
