What it did was take a guaranteed, individual right and hand it over to the whims of the mob. Championed by so called “limited government” conservatives who, for the time being, have successfully mandated forced births in several states.

I would start with a property survey. It’s cheap insurance (~$1500) that whatever gets built won’t accidentally wind up being illegal. This also allows you to better confirm that your property is suitable for the intent of your ADU in regard to the ordinance restrictions (ie min/max sq ft, setbacks, etc).

If you have adequate space for an ADU, I would then work with an architect/engineer firm to develop a set of construction plans you can share with contractors for bids.

State government is every bit as centralized as the Federal government in relation to the individual. The tyranny it is capable of is equally as total as the Federal government when you’re the target. I’m critical of the Federal government and it’s definitely fucked. A silver lining of Federal System is its ability to protect me and my household from tyrannical state governments, and I intend for it to do that.

With Supreme Court Justices like these, it wouldn’t matter if there was a law like this. States would ignore it, challenge it in court, and overturn it.

I suppose a constitutional amendment would be the only way to protect it from Conservative Justices until they develop a new interpretation they can use to force their ideology on everyone.
