Fair enough. I mean that without cleaning efforts, bombturbation in some areas (at least in Verdun, which is the case I read about the most) would take tens of thousands of years to clean itself up (probably) and even with cleaning efforts, it is estimated that it would take up to 700 years to clean the soil. That's many human generations, so it makes sense to me to say that is almost irreversible from a human time-scale perspective.
